Valavanidi Katerina

 

Katerina Valavanidi studied Psychology (BSc) and Psychoanalytic Studies (MA) in London, UK. She completed her postgraduate studies at Goldsmiths College, University of London, with a distinction. She then completed a five year clinical training at the Hellenic Institute of Group Analysis and Family Therapy and a three year training at the Department of Group Analysis at the Psychiatric University Hospital in Athens. She has also attended an intensive training course in Dynamic Interpersonal Therapy at the Anna Freud Centre in collaboration with Tavistock & Portman Clinic. She has attended a one year intensive training course in Group Dynamics. As a psychologist she has offered her services at the Anna Freud Centre (in the research department), at the Rehabilitation Centre ’18 Ano’ in Athens, the Child Psychiatry Department of the Children’s Hospital ‘Agia Sophia’, at the Centre for Psychosocial & Medical Rehabilitiation in Ano Liosia. She has also worked as a family counsellor and has organised groups and seminars at various centres for Children and their Families. She has also presented papers at various Psychoanalytic and Psychiatric Conferences in Greece and worldwide.

Since 2005, she has been working privately as a psychotherapist with groups, couples, families and individuals. She is also an external collaborator of The Department of Research and Personality disorders at Aiginitio Hospital (University Hospital of Athens) working as a co-therapist in analytic groups with Borderline patients. For the last two years she has been a member of the training staff for the one year intensive training in Group Dynamics in Psychiatric Settings .
She is a founding member of the Hellenic Society of Psychoanalytic Group Psychotherapy.
